Games for kids on a plane or a road trip

Most kids’ apps need the internet, and many stopped working offline. Preschool Learning Games is built the other way round: it’s stored on the device after one visit, so every game works in airplane mode, in the back seat, or anywhere without a signal.

Before you leave: a 1-minute checklist

  1. Open the app on wifi and wait for “Ready for offline ✓” in the grown-ups area.
  2. Add it to the home screen: open your browser’s menu and choose “Add to Home Screen” or “Install app”.
  3. Turn on Travel mode: quieter sounds and a dimmer screen.
  4. Set the session length, then test once in airplane mode.
  5. Pack headphones sized for small ears.

Questions from parents

Will it work in airplane mode?

Yes, once it has been opened on wifi. The grown-ups area tells you when it is ready.

How much space does it need?

About 100 KB. There are no per-game downloads.

Are there ads or in-app purchases?

No ads, ever, and nothing a child can buy. Unlocking is done by a grown-up in the locked grown-ups area, once, with no subscription.

Can my child leave the game by accident?

Leaving a game needs a long press on the home button, and the grown-ups area needs a 2-second hold plus tapping 1, 2, 3. Most phones and tablets can also pin an app to the screen in their settings (often called screen pinning or guided access).

What about screen time?

Health guidance recommends no screen time for children under 2 (apart from video calls) and about an hour a day of good-quality content for ages 2–5, ideally with a grown-up nearby. Our sessions are short on purpose and end with a calm breathing game.
